After doing a lot of reading on The Rx, I have finally decided to post my own thread. I am relatively new to sportsbetting, but have always been intrigued with the statistics and have read all I can about sportsbetting and handicapping. Here's my question:

What are some good books or sources of information for sportsbetting/handicapping?

Before I start throwing cash around I want to be sure to understand all I can and develop some sort of system to guide me.

Any info anybody has would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

CivilEng05, welcome to The Rx. I hope you enjoy the site.

If you are looking for some very good books on handicapping sports and gambling in general try The Gamblers Book Shop in Las Vegas. They offer a wide variety of printed material about all facets of gambling. You can buy books online and have them shipped anywhere you like. Highly recommended.

I am sure others will be along to post some more suggestions and answers to your questions.

You can test your system as you go using linesmaker.com. They have a free demo that lets you place fake bets then you can check to see how your bets are doing. I found that very helpful to me before I started betting real money. It's worth a shot and you ahve nothign to lose.

The best book for systems bar none, is "Fixed Odds Sports Betting" by Joseph Buchdahl. It uses soccer data but the principles are there.

This book is worth reading and re-reading every so often.
